Bookshare Australia

The Association for the Blind of Western Australia and Bookshare.org offer Bookshare.org services to Australians. Bookshare.org is a service which can provide a reader witha print disability access to a wide range of titles in DAISY text only format and Braille.

The cost is is US$75 about A$70.47 for the first year of membership and US$50 about A$46.88 for each following year. These prices are set by Bookshare.org and not by the Association for the Blind of Western Australia. The prices reflect the current Bookshare.org fees converted into Australian dollars as of Sat, 28 Jan 2012 07:26:09 +0800.

We require a proof of disability from a certifying agency on the application form we provide to Bookshare. Please download and mail back to us your form and payment. As a bonus Bookshare.org membership will also include membership in ABWA's digital talking book library services.

Important Notice: Due to the requirements of international copyright law not all books held by Bookshare.org in the United States can be accessed in Australia at this time. We are working with Bookshare.org on this issue.

The number of books available to Australian users from Bookshare.org is currently at 11,686. We have a few thousands waiting in the wings to get processed that is likely to increase the number by another 10 to 15 thousand in another few months.

Signing Up for Bookshare.org

Signing up for bookshare is a two step process. First you should fill out the online registration form be sure and include the promotion code ABWA at end of the online form. Then download the form below and send it to us.

Bookshare prices are as follows: Joining Fee A$70.47 which includes your first year of membership. Yearly renewal membership fee is A$46.88
